My name is Rayanne Petersen and I am a Metabolic Health Specialist. I work with individuals, couples, families and sports organizations to improve their overall health and longevity, optimize athletic performance, and overcome chronic diseases.
My approach to health and nutrition is trauma informed, intersectional, and sensitive to the varying needs of people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds.
I am certified in Sports Nutrition, Low Carb High Fat / Keto Nutrition, and Women's Nutrition under Professor Tim Noakes (Sports Physiologist, The Nutrition Network, South Africa).
My work in nutrition offers a unique perspective from over thirty years of living and working with First Nations communities in Northern BC and Alberta; participating in traditional sweatlodge and fasting ceremonies, and gaining insights into ancestral Indigenous diets and lifestyles.
I am currently collaborating with Tristar Gym West Coast on a program called “Zero to Hero” which combines personalized nutrition plans, fitness, and MMA training for professional or pre-professional athletes.
No matter where you are in your journey, there is hope for a healthier, happier way forward. A diet and lifestyle that keeps insulin lower and toxicities at bay will contribute to a greater health span overall.
Having a powerful internal antioxidant system will boost immunity, delay aging, and protect you from cancer, neurological diseases and other chronic degenerative diseases.
“The pursuit of individually tailored, optimal dietary formulae that cater to both high performance and optimal health is the future direction of sports nutrition.” - Prof. Tim Noakes
Keto/low carb diets are capable of enhancing endurance and strength for both recreational and elite athletes participating in individual or team sports.
Many of today’s chronic diseases can be put into remission or reversed by shifting from our standard ‘American’ diet to a lower carb/ Ketogenic lifestyle. This methodology can be used as an adjuvant to other traditional therapies and in some cases can be used on its own.
Taking agency over our food and exercise shifts the paradigm from "sick care" to one of whole body health from the inside out.
I am available for consulting sessions in person or on the phone.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Hello! My name is Ronnie West from the Lake Babine Nation in Northern B.C. I am a Hereditary Chief, (Ja Dim Ska Nes) meaning Big Mountain. I am the leader of the Gil Lan Tin Clan.
I have known Rayanne for a long time through the traditional sweat lodge ceremonies and fasting ceremonies. Recently I was on the border of having diabetes and the doctor wanted to put me on Metformin. I was already on meds for high blood pressure.
I asked Rayanne for her thoughts and she recommended a dietary strategy closer to an ancestral diet. We worked together for about six months and brought my blood sugar down to normal as well as my blood pressure for the first time in many years. I lost 39 pounds!
It is amazing how important our food choices are! Hopefully one day we can help our nation heal through a decolonized life style and diet. We won't need medications if we get back to basics.
Thanks Rayanne!

Rayanne Petersen was fantastic to work with at Tristar Gym West Coast. We brought her in to run a challenge we decided to call “Kick Sugar To The Side”. Rayanne came in and explained to our Kids and Teens MMA students about the health risks of drinking sugary beverages, and how it is sometimes unexpected which ones have a high sugar content.
The program was fun and interactive and the students definitely came away from it with a better understanding of how to choose the right drinks to support their health.
I would definitely recommend working with Rayanne for anyone wanting to increase their knowledge of nutrition and overall health!
